The Soap Box: 2014 Summer Edition

2014 Summer Soap BoxI heard about The Soap Box from a couple of beauty bloggers I follow on YouTube. I always enjoyed watching and reading their reviews so I decided to join in on the fun!

The Details: $19.99 (U.S.), $28.00 (Canada), $38.00 (International) for a quarterly subscription box. Inside, there’s a cutely, decorated card letting you know the name of the products and how to use them.

Summer Soap“Lick Your Lips” Fortune Cookie Soap: At first, I thought this smelled like laundry detergent. When you take the soap out of the wax paper, it no longer smells like laundry detergent or even what it’s supposed to smell like: peppermint ice cream with flecks of dark chocolate. It just smells like waxy mint if that even makes sense. I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried this yet because 1) I can’t get over the smell and 2) Fortune Cookie Soap ran out of soap savers/dishes so I’m just kind of… waiting.

Fortune: “I can’t complain, but sometimes I still do.”

Summer Wax Tart“Sweet Dreamsicle” Wax Tart: This straight up smells like tropical goodness. There’s hints of orange and vanilla, which somehow translates into this lovely pineapple scent. I use a Glade Wax Warmer with this and the smell instantly fills every room.

Summer Body Scrub“Rock Your Socks Off” Solid Sugar Scrub: This smells like grape and feels like awesomeness. I recommend wetting the scrub and then applying it to your body. Don’t stand under the shower or soak in a tub unless you want it to dissolve quickly. I also feel like there’s a moisturizing component to this. It left my skin feeling smooth without having to use lotion. Great product that I would definitely repurchase.

Summer Face Scrub“Lemon Drop It Like It’s Hot” Microdermabrasion Facial Scrub: This is unlike any facial scrub I’ve ever used. Usually there’s a few scrubbies that you kind of have to move all around in order to get any kind of exfoliation. With this, I felt like I was rubbing sand all over my face. That might sound odd, but it felt really nice. The smell was a bit off. The card said “lemon peel essence and orange zest”, but the first thing I thought of was oatmeal – both the look and smell.

Summer Lip Scrub“Blow Me!” Lip Scrub: The texture of this particular lip scrub was very interesting. Most scrubs are gritty but this one was almost moisturizing. It wasn’t too harsh but was still getting the job done. Oh and the smell? Bubblegum, of course.

Summer Body Butter “Captain’s Berried Booty” Whipped Cream: Holy deliciousness! This smells exactly like Captain Crunch cereal AND is very hydrating. Another product I’d repurchase!

Summer Hand Sanitizer“Lollipop Your Cherry” OCD Hand Sanitizer: I don’t really care for anything cherry-related so I was happy to read that there was also vanilla, orange, and pineapple. Not only does this smell wonderful, but it’s super moisturizing. I often find that hand sanitizers will leave my hands feeling very dry. I carry this in my purse and find any excuse to use it. “Oh, I accidentally touched a clean napkin. Gotta use some hand sani!”

Summer Body Glitter“The Sweet Spot” Sparkle Me: I don’t like glitter unless it’s on a greeting card and I don’t even really like that. This would be perfect for a person who is 1) tan and 2) likes the look of someone who bathes in glitter. I closed my eyes, sprayed this on my arm and forgot about the glitter for a moment. It smelled like Hawaiian Punch. Yay for smell, nay for look.
