“You will evolve past certain people. Let yourself.” ―Mandy Hale
I’ve had the privilege of living in many different states and meeting some amazing people. However, with that comes seasonal friendships. Many people rave about seasonal friendships because you can pick up where you left off with no problems, but that’s just it. It’s becoming a problem. I’ll admit that when I was younger, it was pretty convenient. I didn’t have to keep tabs on anyone or make much of an effort because when the time came to reconnect, there was this mutual understanding:
I had forgotten all about you until Facebook told me it was your birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OMG, LET’S CHAT SOON!!11!!!!!1
I guess now that I’m older, I want consistent friendships that go beyond the surface, that have a new, mutual understanding:
I’m here for you. I’ll speak truth in love but also be quick to listen.
I mean, really, is it too much to ask someone to be a non-seasonal friend?
